Electric Vehicles: are they really too quiet …?

It seems that electric vehicles are more dangerous to pedestrians than traditional cars with petrol engines. Why? Electric vehicles are too quiet, at least when they are travelling at 30 km/h. For all pedestrians and green transport users, this is a disadvantage as they are often dependent on their ears to warn them of an approaching vehicle and changing this habit is not easy.

So, as from 2019, it will be compulsory for all new electric vehicles to be equipped with an acoustic device to alert pedestrians and green transport users of the presence of an electric vehicle. The United States have already put in place this type of measure, which has reduced the number of accidents.
